A complex, short and weak impulsive sample from the time series was analyzed by applying a method based on the gradient pattern analysis and discrete wavelet decomposition. By analyzing canonical temporal variability patterns we show that the new method can reliably characterize the phenomenological dynamical process of short time series (N 103 measurements) as the radio burst addressed here. In the narrowest sense, by estimating the mutual information distance in the gradient spectra, we show that the fluctuation pattern of the short and weak 3 GHz impulsive solar burst, with energetic amplitudes <350 SFU, is closer to the intermittent and strong MHD turbulent variability pattern. %8 Sept. %N 5 %T Gradient pattern analysis of short solar radio bursts %@secondarytype PRE PI %K Solar radio bursts, Stochastic processes, Gradient pattern analysis, Wavelets, MHD turbulence. %@visibility shown %@group LAC-CTE-INPE-MCT-BR %@group %@group LAC-CTE-INPE-MCT-BR %@group LAC-CTE-INPE-MCT-BR %@group DAS-CEA-INPE-MCT-BR %@group DGE-CEA-INPE-MCT-BR %@group LAC-CTE-INPE-MCT-BR %@group LAC-CTE-INPE-MCT-BR %@group %@group DGE-CEA-INPE-MCT-BR %@secondarykey INPE--PRE/ %2 sid.inpe.br/mtc-m17@80/2007/12.03.16.30.15 %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Astronomical Institute of Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %B Advances in Space Research %P 844-851 %4 sid.inpe.br/mtc-m17@80/2007/12.03.16.30 %D 2008 %V 42 %@doi 10.1016/j.asr.2007.08.015 %A Rosa, Reinaldo Roberto, %A Karlický, M., %A Veronese, T.
