The ionization is generated by the interaction of the solar and cosmic ionizing radiations with the neutral atmosphere constituents. In the Southern Space Observatory - OES/CRS/CIE/INPE MCT, in São Martinho da Serra, RS, in south of Brazil, was installed and is operation a riometer equipment (Radio Ionosphere Opacity Meter) for Space Geophysics research. This riometer consists of a set of 16 antennas formed by a 4x4 matrix operating at 38.2 MHz. The riometer detects the variation of the incident cosmic radiation in the ground, thus determining the electronic density of the lower ionosphere, that is, layers D and E. The ionospheric absorption is obtained generally by the subtraction of the intensities of the cosmic noise due to the absorption of the ionospheric layers and the level of the background cosmic radiation in the absence of this absorption. From this procedures, using statistical methods the quiet day (Quiet Day Curve - QDC) can be determined. The main objective of this work is to study the behavior of the Ionosphere in the central region of the South Atlantic Magnetic Anomaly SAMA, in south of Brazil, analyzing data observed with riometers. %T The Use of Riometers for The Study of South Atlantic Magnetic Anomaly %@electronicmailaddress juliano@ lacesm.ufsm.br %@secondarytype PRE CI %@nexthigherunit 8JMKD3MGPCW/3ETL868 8JMKD3MGPCW/3EUFCFP %@tertiarytype Poster Session %8 25th - 30 November %@usergroup administrator %@usergroup seeger05 %@usergroup administrator %@group RSU-INPE-MCT-BR %@group DAE-INPE-MCT-BR %@group RSU-INPE-MCT-BR %@group RSU-INPE-MCT-BR %@group RSU-INPE-MCT-BR %@group RSU-INPE-MCT-BR %F self-archiving-INPE-MCTIC-GOV-BR %2 sid.inpe.br/mtc-m17@80/2007/11.20.20.56.24 %@affiliation Southern Regional Space Research Center – CRS/CIE/INPE – MCT %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) %@affiliation Southern Regional Space Research Center – CRS/CIE/INPE – MCT %@affiliation Southern Regional Space Research Center – CRS/CIE/INPE – MCT %@affiliation Southern Regional Space Research Center – CRS/CIE/INPE – MCT %@affiliation Southern Regional Space Research Center – CRS/CIE/INPE – MCT %@versiontype publisher %4 sid.inpe.br/mtc-m17@80/2007/11.20.20.56 %@documentstage not transferred %D 2007 %A Moro, Juliano, %A Muralikrishna, Polinaya, %A Schuch, Nelson Jorge, %A Moort, Lilian Piecha, %A Jaskulski, Tiago, %A Daroit, Cézar Augusto, %C Rio de Janeiro, Brasil %@area CEA %@holdercode {isadg {BR SPINPE} ibi 8JMKD3MGPCW/3DT298S}
