The activity of the catalysts in the conversion of carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide was investigated in tests with a single bed converter. The carbon monoxide was generated by controlled combustion of ethyl alcohol, which is a common automobile fuel in Brazil. The combustion gas tests were performed with gas flow ratessimilar to those of automobile exhaust pipes. The results show the following sequence for the activity of the metals: Ir>Pt>Ru. Conversion rates as high as 90% were obtained with iridium catalysts. The catalysts with 0,05% and 0.10% of the same metal showed approximately the same activity. %N 2 %T Catalysts for conversion of carbon monoxide in ethyl acohol combustion gases %@secondarytype PRE PI %K CATÁLISE, alumina, Catalysts, carbon monoxide. %@visibility shown %@group LCP-INPE-BR %@group LCP-INPE-BR %@secondarykey INPE-12378-PRE/7682 %@copyholder SID/SCD %2 lcp.inpe.br/ignes/2005/03.07.09.13.01 %@affiliation Fundação de Tecnologia Industrial %@affiliation Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais %@affiliation Pontifícia Universidade Católica %B Journal of Engineering for International Development %P 22-30 %4 lcp.inpe.br/ignes/2005/03.07.09.13 %D 1991 %V 1 %A Roma, Marivone Nuno Souza de Camargo, %A Carvalho Júnior, João Andrade de, %A Cruz, Gilberto Marques da, %@dissemination WEBSCI %@area COMB
