This work aims at presenting the assessment of the Photossynthetically Active Radiation (PAR radiation) for Brazilian territory. This paper also describes the validation step of the PAR radiation estimates provided by radiative transfer model BRASIL-SR. Five ground sites in different climatic regions provided measured data to compare with the PAR estimates: Brasília (DF), Petrolina (PE), Ouro Preto DOeste (RO), Campo Grande (MT) and São Martinho da Serra (RS). All ground data were submitted to a rigorous quality assurance program using WMO criteria established for BSRN network. The PAR estimates presented large reliability with low mean bias error (around 5%) and RMSE lower than 14%. The Brazilian Northeast and Central regions receives the larger seasonal average of PAR irradiation in the Spring time , while North and South has larger PAR flux during the Summer. |
